“Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty, soon they disappear, and we fly away.”

Psalm 90:10 (New Living Translation)

A Blessing for our Classmates

As a graduate of the MASH class of 1971, the words above, attributed to a person who lived over 3,300 years ago are sobering. When we received our diplomas, we had our entire lives ahead of us. All these years later, we know all too well that the years fly away. We’ve lost classmates and loved ones, and recognize that someday, we, too, will be memorialized on these pages.

May the words below be a blessing as we remember each of our classmates.

  • May we bless you as unique, your own person, full of potential and filled with life.

  • May we bless what made you special, those moments when our lives intersected in halls and classrooms, the particular gift that was only you, a person fully alive and much bigger than any of our memories, who lived your life as only you could.

  • May we bless you as beloved, cherished by family and friends, for whom your parting leaves an emptiness that only you could fill.

  • May we bless you as we live in the knowledge that each moment is sacred, a gift to be cherished, just like you.
