Born April 2, 1953, in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of Jean (Renard) Burlison of Mechanicsburg and the late John B. Burlison.

He  also is survived by a sister, Marjorie B. Seiler of Chattanooga, Tenn.;  a brother, Jack R. Burlison of Mechanicsburg, several nieces and  nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial  services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Carlisle Church of Christ with  the Rev. Kevin Key officiating. Private interment in Mechanicsburg  Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Shore EMS, 205 Grandview Ave., Suite 211, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Arrangements are being handled by Myers Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg.

Mrs. Linda S. Ness, 30, of 4015 Old Gettysburg Road, Lower Allen Twp., died Saturday, November 26, 1983, in Holy Spirit Hospital.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.

Surviving are a son, Jacob at home; a daughter, Mary Ellen at home; her mother, Mrs. Helena L. Dietz of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Richard Dietz of Mechanicsburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Sandra Hassinger and Mrs. Karen Adams both of Mechanicsburg.

Linda was a graduate of the Mechanicsburg Senior High School in 1971. Activities included playing a flute in the marching band and a member in both  the Tri-Hi-Y, and the Pep Clubs.

Linda earned an A.D. in Family Services at the Harrisburg Area Community College. And was a valuable mentor to others at Good Will. 

Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Charles D. Hiller and Rev. Kenneth I. Bower officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.

There will be no viewing.

An Adoring Father and Grandfather -

Robert  “Bob” Alan Eames, age 69, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday,  February 5, 2022.  Bob was born on Tuesday, October 28, 1952, in  Mechanicsburg to the late Ronald Keith Eames and Joyce Marie (Kutz)  Hopkins.  In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his  step-father, H. Kenneth Hopkins, and his two brothers, Randell “Randy”  Eames and Richard “Rick” Eames. 

Bob’s  survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carrie Sue (Baker) Eames; his  daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Elizabeth Anderson and husband, Alex, of  Carlisle; his two granddaughters, Katelyn and Riley; his two sisters,  JoAnn Negley and husband, Matthew, of Shippensburg and Phyllis Martin  and husband, Jeffrey, of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob  graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1971  and attended Harrisburg Area Community College.  He retired from The  Pennsylvania State Employee Retirement System and Municipal Employees  Retirement System in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as a  retirement counselor.  Bob loved to spend time fly fishing on the many  trout streams in the area.  Bob loved to live life on the open road and  loved his Triumph and his Harley Davidson.  He was an avid billiards  player and was very fond of scratch-off lottery tickets. Bob was a  sports fan and his favorite teams were: the Boston Red Sox, the New  England Patriots and the Penn State Nittany Lions.  He had previously  lived in Maine and he and Carrie would go back to Maine every year to  vacation and to see family.  Most of all, Bob loved his family and  adored his granddaughters.  He will be greatly missed by his family and  friends.

Bob’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Cremation was private.

Joanne M. Weigel 67, of Armagh, died  Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her residence.  She was born on March 14,  1953, in Bedford, a daughter of the late John E. and Evelyn M. (Law)  Elliott.  On December 6, 1981 in Bedford, she married Ronald L.  Weigel who preceded her in death on December 4, 1984.  She is survived  by a sister Diana Superack and husband George, of Columbia, TN, and a  brother John Elliott and wife Lynn, of Bedford; four nieces: Chali  Roberts, Melanie Superack, Megan Cornell, and Jordan Elliott; five  great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-nephew. She was preceded  in death by her companion Leonard Burkett.

Joanne received her Master’s Degree from  IUP. She retired from United School District after 28 years, and also  worked at Law’s Jewelry in Johnstown. Joanne enjoyed singing with the  Johnstown Symphony as well as many weddings throughout the years.  She  loved her animals Maizy and Willow, and was an avid supporter of Laurel  Highlands Kennel Association.  She was blessed to have many friends who  worked with her and continued to be close friends after her retirement.   Joanne was well loved and adored by her students and was often invited  back to attend their graduations, and kept in touch following  graduation.

Funeral services will be private at the  Mausoleum at Grandview Cemetery, in Johnstown.  Arrangements by the  Timothy A. Kevin L. Fahey of Milton, formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on January 8, 2019, peacefully at his home after a long illness at the age of 65.  He was a loyal employee of PPL since he was 19, working at both Montour Power Plant and Brunner Island in various positions, retiring as plant operator a couple of years ago.  He moved to Puerto Rico to pursue his lifelong dream of sailing and philanthropic endeavors.  He loved the island and people so much he bought a home there and lived in the rain forest until illness forced him back to Pennsylvania. 

            He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Sabrina Gearhart, and 3 grandchildren, Desiree Fahey, Dalton Fahey, and Erin Gearhart, and others who called him ‘dad’ or ‘pap’.  He also leaves behind a brother, Brian Fahey (Pam), and sisters, Maureen Asper (Steve), Pat Keller, and Maria Fahey (Garth), along with a large extended family and many good friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and A. Ruth Fahey of Mechanicsburg.

            In his everlasting humanitarian efforts, he has donated his body for the advancement of medical knowledge for the next several years.  Burial in the future will be at the convenience of the family, however a memorial service will be held at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton on Saturday, February 9, with visitation beginning at 2 and a service following at 3.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Red Cross in honor of his lifelong mission to help those less fortunate.

Bette Fertenbaugh Deiter

A  woman of many talents and interests, Bette Fertenbaugh Deiter was best  known for her sense of humor and joy of life. She loved hats. Silly,  funny, ugly hats that she wore to work to entertain the Susquenita  Elementary students. Daily intercom announcements were delivered with  her own unique flare, brightening everyone's day and always getting  attention.
On May 25, 1974, Bette married her best friend Harry  Deiter. Their union, that lasted 43 years produced Paul Deiter and Kelly  Deiter Raudensky who then added to the family Lauren, Paul's wife and  John, Kelly's husband. These marriages resulted in three beautiful  grandchildren Bryce Deiter, and Jacob and Elizabeth Raudensky.
Bette  Fertenbaugh was born on May 21, 1953 in Mechanicsburg, to Paul and  Janet Fertenbaugh, as the perfect younger sister to Nancy Fertenbaugh  Arndt. God welcomed Bette home on April 21, 2018.
The celebration of  Bette's life will begin Friday, April 27 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ronald  C.L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 North High St, Duncannon. Saturday  visitation will be held at Hill United Methodist Church, 4 Hill Church  Road, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with memorial following. Reception to follow  at Watts Buffalo Community Center, 57 Blacksnake Road.

YORK - With her family and friends by her side, Bonnie L. Goodwin, 52,  passed away peacefully Thursday, February 9, 2006, at the home of her  sister.
A celebration of life memorial tribute service will be held  11 a.m. Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551  Kenneth Road, York. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dr. Brian  J. Shelley. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 10 to 11  a.m. in the funeral chapel.
Born in York on August 29, 1953, Bonnie  was the daughter of Richard P. and Violet L. (Shultz) Goodwin. She was  the youngest of seven children in her family.
She began her  schooling in York, and later moved with her family to Dillsburg and Camp  Hill, before completing her high school education at Mechanicsburg High  School. During her high school years, she received awards and honors  for her writing. Bonnie considered a career in journalism. She became  interested in the theatre, and was involved in several productions at  the Mechanicsburg Little Theatre.
Bonnie graduated in 1974 from  Rider College in Morristown, NJ where she received a Bachelor of Arts  degree. While she was a student there, she became a "Little Sister" to  the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity before pledging and joining the Delta Phi  Epsilon Sorority. During her college years, Bonnie and her friends  frequently visited New York City to see the sights and attend the  theatre. It was at that time that she grew to love NYC.
Upon  graduation from Rider College, Bonnie and a few of her friends moved to  NYC to begin the next phase of their lives. Bonnie started her career  with David Oksner & Mitchneck Advertising, and then spent 20 years  as an account executive for various NY agencies. Most recently she was  Business Manager for Zeno Group, a public relations firm in NYC.
To  cherish her memories, Bonnie leaves three sisters, Pamela Carpenter, Ann  Eckman, and Nancy Raffensberger all of York; two brothers, Richard  Goodwin of Dover and Donald Christensen of La Porte, IN; and nieces and  nephews. One brother, Lester Christensen preceded her in death.
Bonnie was a very brave young woman whose bright smile and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all that knew her.

 Cynthia Luann (Hare) Carver, 55, of Enola, PA, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, in the Holy Spirit Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1953, in Williamsport, PA, daughter of the late  Floyd and Phyllis (Naugle) Hare. She was also preceded in death by two  brothers, Richard and Steven Hare.
Cynthia was a 1974 graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse at various local hospitals and nursing facilities.
She is survived by her 4 children, Kara, Yvonne, Adam, Heather; 3  grandchildren, Rachel, Austin, Brianna, and one on the way; her sister,  Tami Drake; a nephew, Adrian; 2 nieces, Shalee and Lakota.
Memorial  services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Baughman  Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, PA, with the Reverend  Brand W. Eaton officiating.

J. Benjamin "Ben" Hartman, 62, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday January 17, 2015.
He was a son of the late Steward H. Hartman, Sr. and Jayne C. Hartman.
Ben was retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was an avid Phillies fan,  an animal activist, and likes running and bird watching. A fine artist  and musician, he enjoyed painting and played bass guitar in two bands.  Ben will be remembered by his many devoted friends.
Surviving Ben  are his sister, Victoria (Hartman) and husband, Robert D. Aronoff of  Harrisburg; brother, Steward H. Hartman Jr. of Mechancisburg; niece,  Jennifer L. Nester of Palmyra; and 2 nephews, Kyle Michael Newkam of  Lemoyne and Benjamin D. Aronoff of Harrisburg.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

ROGER HORTON  OBITUARY


Roger Lee Horton Sr., 52, of New Bern, N.C., passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Horton was born in Carlisle on Feb. 6, 1953, and was the son of the late Ernest Horton and Iva Jane (Long) Horton.

He was employed by NADEP.

He  is survived by a son, Roger Lee Horton Jr. of Houston, Texas; a  daughter, Melissa Horton of Harrisburg; his mother, Iva Jane Horton; two  brothers, Wayne Horton of Florida and Barry, husband of Jennifer Horton  of Mechanicsburg.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July  20, at 11 a.m. at Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg,  with the Rev. William H. Sechrist officiating. Burial will be in  Cumberland Valley  

Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home.

In  lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney  Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, Olde Liberty Square, Suite 101,  Harrisburg, PA 17109.
